We've been to Whaley Bridge.

Quick stroll up into Whaley Bridge today, dodging the showers and bracing against the wind.

This is the basin at the end of the canal with the old rail/canal transhipment warehouse in the background.

The Cromford and High Peak Railway came along the line of this road

and into the warehouse where goods were transferred from rail to canal and vice versa. It's all a bit run down now. Incidently, there are no usable visitor moorings down this arm but town is only a fifteen minute walk from Bugsworth.

There's not much in the town but we did find a nice little butchers, Wild Edwin & Son, up Old Road as well as a fishing tackle shop, handy if you're running out of maggots.

With terraces like these you know you're in the Peaks.
We're off tomorrow, meeting daughter and family at Stone on Monday week.

Watch this space............
