Arrival at Hungerford.

As you leave Kintbury you pass the wonderfully gothic Old Vicarage, looking as though it has just escaped from a Hammer House of Horror film.
At Wire Lock we met up with our old travelling companions from the Grand Union on "Lizzzie", just time for a quick hello and we were off in different directions. Ships that pass in the night etc.
Dun Mill Lock and bridge

and right next to them the bridge over the Kennet. I suspect that the canal company had to provide a new bridge over the river when they cut their way through the lane, probably the old bridge over the river didn't line up.

At Hungerford we managed to moor just above the bridge, opposite this fine half timbered building.

After securing the boat we took a wander up the main street, lots of characterful buildings and several good antique shops/arcades. They took up a couple of hours and no, we didn't buy anything, no space for frippperies on Armadillo.
A quick raid on Tescos and back onboard for a quiet afternoon.
Tomorrow eldest daughter and family arrive for the day.

Watch this space........
